Left $5,000 recruiting money on the table. Just too lazy to spend it all. Is this really awful?

If you filled all your scholarships, you'll roll a quarter of that over to next year.  Why spend it and waste it?  Not to be rude, but how does a guy with over 190 seasons of HD experience not realize this?
