Roy Hobbs/Field of Dreams Mash Up Topic

"losing is a disease..." until a Wonderboy comes out of the corn to lead your team to the pennant and save the farm!

Pick a team from baseball history (1920 and on) with a winning percentage under .400 and add one player (pitcher or hitter, 1885 and on, sort of) from that franchise's past (franchise histories as according to baseball.reference). The Roy Hobbs/Field of Dreams player needs to be from a previous season (sorry, no Back To The Future players this time around).

pre-1920 wonderboys allowed. 200k players allowed to fill in roster holes if your club is short.

example: 1993 Mets could add 1971 Tom Seaver but not 2001 Mike Piazza.

no: ww, aaa, dh

clones: YES

cap: 80mm, standard 24 team league

use the ballpark of your sub .400 team.

announce your sub .400 win pct club and Hobbs/FOD player here in the forum. Individual years for clubs and players are exclusive, but multiple franchises and players allowed.

I'll make my selection at 13.

Will pre-1920 wonderboys be allowed? Will anti-Hobbs 200,000 dollar players be allowed to fill out rosters of teams with less than 25 eligible players?

I will sign on with the 1965 Redsox and 1941 Ted Williams. The list of available teams is very small. Lots of years have no team under .400. Most AL season prior to 1960 you only have a choice of Phi A's or SLB. If you raised the bar to .425 you would almost double the number of crummy teams.

pre-1920 wonderboys allowed. 200k players allowed to fill in roster. both rules have been added in original post.

a sub .400 win pct is less than 100 losses in a 162 game schedule, there should be enough clubs, but if other people feel it's a problem when can discuss a change.

additionally, i have been informed that people wouldn't want to field this crappy of a ballclub with only one addition. I feel that it just makes for a really diverse player pool that everyone has to deal with. I mean someone has to win, right?
