HBD as it's meant to be Topic

For the haters, I started this thread for one reason.   Too many people believe you have to win 137 games and lock down your division at game 60 to enjoy HBD.   I believe the exact opposite.     Two of us will win 87-90 games and miss the playoffs.  But we'll be in the game for the full 162.   IMO, that's much better than being up 22 with 30 left and playing out the string.    Perhaps some n00bs will read this and feel the same way.

And, perhaps, that will help end the "I gotta have 28 All-Stars on my roster to have fun" attitude that leads to tanking.

This post summarizes why I like Mantle a lot. It's a world with plenty  of competition and there isn't a huge gap between the playoff teams and teams who just miss. Seems like some worlds get a big gap that seems insurmountable in the off-season.

Although after getting swept by Arizona, I'm hoping I can set my rotation up for that end of the season series with Scottsdale.

Yeah, I always say S8 of MG was my favorite season.   Only won 84 and one playoff series but I ralled after roster expansion and swept my division rival in the last series to take the WC2 from him.    That was fun.   I left Joey Belle after 8 consecutive division titles(the next owner won the WS without making any changes the following season) because I was winning my division by 30 games.    I largely stopped paying attention to that team at the A/S break.

BTW . . . thank you again for Trevor Townsend.

84, 83, 81, 81 as we take the first one for the Scrotum Apollos and SF/AZ both lose.

I also have an interesting observation for the bottom (both seasons I've been in).

The softer MWR tail (working up to 260 instead of 280) seems to equal more teams flirting with the 55. I'm guessing they think the 260 is reachable and are willing to take a chance for the higher pick.

I've long said the MWR doesn't stop tanking.   It just stops blatant tanking.   Even with the 55/125/195/280 I use, there are owners "not playing to win" as the season winds down.   It's not blatant but, every season, around roster expansion, someone will ask "How do I look with the MWR?"    My response is always the same.   "You're fine with 125/195 but, if you **** around, you'll miss the 280.   Win some ******* game, tanker."

Are they incapable of figuring out how they look with the MWR on their own?

If you're struggling to hit the MWR, you probably should ask.   Your HBD acumen isn't really where it should be.   Know what I mean?

Yeah, but that's pretty basic math, not HBD... maybe you should suggest to those folks that they spend a little time watching Sesame Street learning their numbers instead of on HBD... or just stop being lazy ***** and asking you to do the work for them.
