I'm baffled why this guy has not pitched better so far in his Rookie year.  I'm not expecting the moon, but seems like he's getting shelled on a consistant basis?  Am I crazy or missing a flaw?

You're crazy. Your sample size is small, you don't exactly have yadier molina catching, and you play in a hitters park. Hardly worth starting a thread over. His 1.47 whip will drop over the next 88 innings.

This guy has had some wildly different seasons. Its random chance. .300 hitters don't get exactly .3 hits every at bat.

Looks to me like the dur/stm combo. Is he getting shelled late in games? Maybe lower his pitch count.

A good pitcher but nothing more than a long relief guy or a SUA with a 30 pitch count.  Not a starter normally.

It's not "random chance".     When Sierra gets enough innings, he pitches well.   When you stop using him, the bad numbers stick. 

Which, of course, works with dafood's pitcher.   His numbers will get better as the season progresses and, over the course of his career, he'll put up good numbers.   You can't judge a player on 88 innings.
I'm going to have to disagree with you Bill Lumburgh style. Ya...

His pitch count is correct. He can go into a final AB having thrown 88 pitches to that point, and not have in game fatigue.

I'd say a combo of : 1) give him time to find himself, 2) hitter's park, and 3) check your defensive stats i.e. +/- plays. You could also check to se if your catcher knows how to call a pitch (controversial discussion).
