In season 66 even numbered Heartland teams will be at home and odd numbered teams will be on the road. I will wait until I get the invite lists for the 3 major preseason tourneys (Yarnell, Derby City Classic and Yam Jam) before we set final matchups 4 matchups, but here are the rankings for each conference:

Heartland:
1. St. Mary's TX
2. Incarnate Word
3. N. Alabama
4. Valdosta St.
5. St. Edward's
6. Drury
7. Rockhurst
8. Lincoln
9. Montevallo
10. W. Alabama
11. W. Florida
12. Oklahoma Panhandle St.

CVAC:
1. Belmont Abbey
2. Longwood
3. Pfeiffer
4. Queens U. (NC)
5. Limestone
6. Lees-McRae
7. Anderson
8. Coker
9. Barton
10. Erskine
11. Mount Olive
12. St. Andrews Pres

Assuming that hacker sticks with his usual formula for setting the Yarnell field, St. Mary's TX and Belmont-Abbey will both be in the Yarnell and will therefore not be able to play each other in the CVAC-Heartland Challenge, so St. Mary's would play Longwood and Belmont-Abbey would play Incarnate Word.
6/2/2013 8:49 PM (edited)
I won't be able to set final matchups for some teams until Belmont Abbey accepts or declines his Yarnell invite, but here are the rest.

Game 5
St. Andrews Pres @ OK Panhandle St.
W. Florida @ Mount Olive

Game 6
Erskine @ W. Alabama
Montevallo @ Barton

Game 7
Coker @ Lincoln
Rockhurst @ Anderson

Game 8
St. Edwards @ Limestone

Game 9
Queens U. (NC) @ Valdosta St.
N. Alabama @ Pfeiffer

Game 10
Lees-McRae @ Drury
Longwood @ Incarnate Word
St. Mary's TX @ Belmont Abbey

Well, Belmont Abbey didn't respond in time for the Yarnell, so Longwood took their place.  We will be able to play 1-vs.-1 and 2-vs.-2 after all.
6/3/2013 3:20 PM
I get to play Longwood when they have 5 seniors?  EXCELLENT.  My string of non-success in the Challenge continues....
6/3/2013 8:26 PM
I get to play them too in the Yarnell, so I think we both get to take that beating.

Opening night preview:

St Andrews (2-2) at #12 Oklahoma Panhandle State (4-0):  yaklyn68 & St Andrews receive a tough assignment as they travel to Goodwell, OK to face undefeated Oklahoma Panhandle.  St Andrews is led by the inside-outside combo of Jr SG John Jenkins & Sr PF James Shaffer's nearly 26 ppg.  yakliyn68's team is fresh of a loss at #21 Wayne St (NE) and is looking to bounce back and win one for the CVAC.

khook19's team is truely a baalnced attack, with Rudy Alcorn's 10.3 ppg in only 19 minutes per.  OkPan's best win this season is versus the same Wayne St (NE) team St Andrews just played.  This one appears to be a mismatch on paper, with oddsmakers making the home team a 2 touchdown favorite, but the season is young and betting lines are frequently wrong this early.

W Florida (3-1) at Mount Olive (4-0):  albatross1 has been getting good effort from his upperclassmen-dominated team, with 9 juniors and seniors in the mix.  5 players average double-digits, led by Ken Harvey's 15.5 ppg.  W Florida ran into ranked Florida Southern for their lone loss.

wvufan76's Mount Olive squad has a perfect mark on the year, owning an impressive victory over traditional power Harding.  Maybe Mount Olive has more balance than W Florida, with 6 players averaging between 11.0 and 9.5 ppg.  Sr SG Angel Roman gets done, with 11.0 ppg in less than 15 minutes of play.

Oddsmakers like it close, favoring the home team by a bucket.  I smell a shootout, first team to 80 wins.

Oklahoma Panhandle State 61, St Andrews 56:  OkPan grinds out an ugly 5 point win.  St Andrews shot 39%, including 25% from deep and had a stellar assist-to-turnover ratio of 4-to18.  Yet they only lost by 5.  Paul Knox was the least ugly performer for OKPan, scoring 13 points on 3-of-7 shooting plus some work from the charity stripe.  Carlos Herrman managed a double-double (12 & 11) for St Andrews.  Away from him, St Andrews laid bricks at a 34% rate.

Mount Olive 71, W Florida 53:  Mount Olive overcomes a 3 point halftime deficit and cruises to a comfortable win.  W Florida's backcourt wasplagued by foul trouble in the second half, with both starters and leading scorers with 11 apiece fouling out around the 8 minute mark.  Backup PG Ron Rhodes clearly couldn't handle Mount Olive, putting up the following line 0-5 FG, 0-4 3FG, 2-4 FTs, 0 assists & 5 TOs.  Not good when that guy leads your team in minutes played.  Mount Olive wasn't exactly efficient on offense, shooting 41% and leading scorer Ramon Velez going 4-of-11 for 11 points.

davefilby, you should know by now that our multi-senior teams always underachieve, and our younger teams are the ones that always seem to make the deep runs in the tourney. No, I don't get it either, but I would not fear us this season.

Erskine (1-4) at W Alabama (4-1): You can't accuse Fillthelane and Erskine of playing a cream puff schedule. Three top ten opponents in the first 4 games are no small contributor to their deceiving 1-4 record. Interestingly, the leading scorers Dikembe Abdelwahed and Joe Jackson come off the bench. Bowen_brian and W Alabama lean on Seniors Shawn McCall and Christopher Corning and their nearly 35ppg. Oddsmakers make the home team a 7 point favorite, but W Alabama may have their hands full.

Montevallo (2-3) at Barton (1-4): two newcomers to the Challenge in kbates1948 and aperi. Aperi and Montevallo bring a young team to the party, with 8 underclassmen and only 1 senior. The youth has scratched out a couple wins and even taken #22 Columbus St to OT, despite only running 8 deep. Todd Delphi, Michael Fibbens, and Gregory Firth all fill it up for the Mont. 3 of Barton's 4 losses have been to ranked teams, including an OT loss to Florida Southern. Charles Guynn and Nelson Douglas led the way for kbates1948. Home team is favored by a bucket.

Erskine 84, W Alabama 67:  Erskine cruises to a 17 point win over W Alabama.  W Alabama made runs to close the gap to a point in the 2nd half, but Erksine took over from there.  Dikembe Abdelwahed provided the spark off the bench with 22 points and 5 steals for the victors.  W Alabama was held to 41% shooting and committed 22 turnovers.

Barton 92, Montevallo 64:  Another relatively easy win by the CVAC, as Barton jumped out to an 18 point halftime lead and didn't look back.  Barton blazed away on the Mont's D at a 53% clip, including 8-of-17 from downtown.  The Mont did convert 26 free throw attempts at a 92% clip, but it wasn't enough to overcome Barton's offensive efficiency.  It was a true team offort for Barton as they handed out 22 assists on 29 made baskets.

CVAC 3, Heartland 1

Coker (4-2) at Lincoln (2-4):  Warshot and Coker have two losses against top 10 teams, taking care of business against everyone else.  Sr PF John Runge provides a valuable inside presence with 18 ppg on 58% shooting.  Despite a couple of difficult opponents, Coker is shooting 53% for the year as a team.  Sr SG Sydney Haskins bombs away for detfirecat and Lincoln, putting up over 19 ppg while shooting 3s at a 42% clip and FTs at 93%.  Lincoln is an 11 point underdog, but detfirecat owns a perfect 7-0 mark versus warshot.

Rockhurst (5-1) at Anderson (4-2):  Unipanther and Rockhurst are a perfect 5-0 this season against coaches named SimAI, with their lone loss at ranked Minnesota, Duluth.  The Rock has 4 starters averaging at least 11 ppg and 82 ppg as a team.  Bscollier has gotten alot out of his Anderson team so far, with 4 wins from his 12 freshmen and sophs.  They score over 87ppg, but give up 80.  I smell a track meet.  Oddsmakers like Rockhurst by 7, but the over/under is 156.  Take the over.

Coker 94, Lincoln 59: Lincoln kept it close in the first half, despite shooting 33%. But Coker turned up the offense in the second half, making 19 FGs (compared with 20 from Lincoln the whole game). Coker stud Runge was content to do work on the glass (with 12 boards), leaving 5 other teammates free to reach double figures. Lincoln was overmatched, with icy 33% shooting in both halves and 26 turnovers.

Rockhurst 78, Anderson 61: Less of a track meet than anticipated, but Rockhurst pulls away in the second half. The Rock parlayed 54% shooting and a ten rebound advantage into their 7th win on the season. Four different players reached double digits, doing damage in the paint. Anderson had no answer, committing 28 fouls against the interior onslaught.

A split makes it CVAC 4, Heartland 2.
8/6/2013 6:58 PM (edited)
St Edwards (6-1) at Limestone (5-2): Funngun10 takes the troops to Limestone hoping to add to their 6 game road winning streak. They've done it on the strength of Timothy Worm's long-range marksmanship, scoring nearly 16 ppg. Athletic St Edwards has also held opponents to less than 42% shooting. Limestone hangs their hat on even stingier defense, holding opponents to 58 ppg on 38% shooting. A trio of senior guards (Cannon, Grisby& Sweet) provide the offensive punch, with over 34 ppg. limestone a one point favorite.
