NOT Rookie of the Year ? Topic

Zeke Bonura, 1B, 1934 with 176 RBIs, 176 ! Came in second to Hal Trosky who also had a great season but hit .318 to Bonura's .335 and had 137 RBIs. Trosky hit 38 HRs to Bonura's 28, which I guess was the reason.

But Bonura came in 5th in the MVP balloting, which Trosky did not place in. The MVP was Jimmy Foxx who had 161 RBIs.

Did Trosky play in an even more pitcher-friendly home park?

BTW SLB awards don't care much at all about RBIs, they care about RC.

Wrote a great "History of the Russian Revolution" though, and was friends with Diego Rivera and Andre Breton.

Doesn't anyone else think there is something weird about the idea that getting on base and not scoring counts toward "runs created" but actually hitting and bringing runners in to score does not?

This is an era when the methodologies of economists - create a fantasy world that does not exist - oh, I am sorry - a mathematical model - and then try to impose that one the real world at all costs as though IT were the reality and the reality that exists were some stupid prejudice on the part of the ignorant masses - is dominant.

sigh.
