[KILLED due to lack of interest. Fuller explanation offered in final post at end.]

This is for all WIS aficionados who tend to burn the candle at both ends.

SEE CHANGES BELOW IN BOLD-FACE TYPE.

A 1901-2013 progressive league in which we start at the ends (1885-86 and 2012-13) and work toward the middle ... NEW DESIGN: Instead of a 27-28-season plan drafting from only four new seasons in the player pool each season, I would increase the number of seasons in the draft pool (on each end) by an increasing number of seasons each season, producing a total of 10 seasons -- so that you don't have to live to be 85 to start and finish this league.

Here's the way the draft pools would go:

1st season:1901-1902-2011-2012
2nd: 1901-1902-1903-1904-1905-2008-2009-2010-2011-2012
3rd: 1901-1902-1903-1904-1905-1906-1907-1908-1909-2004-2005-2006-2007-2008-2009-2010-2011-2012
4th:1901-1902-1903-1904-1905-1906-1907-1908-1909-1910-1911-1912-1913-1914-1999-2000-2001-2002-2003-2004-2005-2006-
    -2007-2008-2009-2010-2011-2012...
And continuing to the 10th season, when we would complete the list of seasons with 1955-1959 added to the list, plus then 2013 and 2014.

(The second season's draft will be 1887-88 & 2010-11, and so on until all seasons have been used, ending with 1956-57-58-59.)

Let's see how many owners are interested.

The idea is based on another progressive (the 1885-20?? Progressive) but I've made changes to remove problems I've found with the way that league works -- chiefly that once an owner has a prime player season, he never loses that player season (unless he's foolish enough to trade him).

KEY FEATURE: Instead, in the Doublefire League, each player season will be blacklisted once it has been used. In other words, you might draft Babe Ruth, but you will have to use a different one of his seasons in each subsequent league season. You will also be restricted to drafting seasons already in use. In other words, you can't use a 1901 player's 1905 season, until the league progresses to include 1905.

24-team standard WIS format; 8 teams in playoffs each season.

25-man rosters; keepers and drops to be posted before each draft. (There will be no injured-reserve players.)

Draft order to be set at game 135; keepers/drops to be posted no later than game 145.

Draft order will be determined by the combined standings for team wins, on-base percentage achieved and WHIP, with points awarded from 24 to 1 in each category. The team with the most bad points will draft first. However: Any owner who wins fewer than 42 games in a season will be booted from the league. (It doesn't matter whether the cause is tanking or just incompetence.) The drafts will be straight style, not snaked.

The draft will be off the clock until the previous season ends. From then on, each owner will have one pick in a designated half-hour slot each day to make his pick at that time or any time later.

$255 million salary cap will make salaries no issue.

The league will have no gift certificates, no Waiver Wire, no AAA players, No injuries.

The league will employ the designated hitter in all lineups.

Everyone please take another look above at changes in the draft plan ...

Well, I really like this idea, but it's attracting no interest in fully three weeks, so I'm killing it for now. If you had looked it over and considered it and think you might want to do it later, please feel free to send me a sitemail.
