Draft Signability Question Topic

Hey Guys,

I have the 2nd overall pick in the draft in my league and was wondering if anyone could explain to me what the following signability comment means:

"Looking for a guaranteed MLB contract. If not, he'll probably take the scholarship and play DI baseball."

Does this mean that I have to put him on my major league roster?

No but he'll be automatically placed on the 40-man roster. He can still be serve time in the minors but options will be used up from the start.

I believe he also starts out at 54k salary no matter what level he gets assigned.

I'm in Season 28 right now in Clemente, been in that world from Day 1, and I can't recall EVER seeing that. So yes, it seems to be pretty rare.
