Contract Renewal Amount For R5 Player - Question Topic

I'm pretty familiar with probably 90% of the possibilities in this game by now, but here's a situation that has me slightly confused:

Last season, I drafted Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: William Dillard in the Rule 5 draft.  He then passed through the waiver/offer back process so I sent him down to AAA, where he stayed through rollover.  After rollover his contract remained at $327K.  I thought he would renew at the AAA pay rate, but he did not.

Anyone know why this is?  Did I just overlook a particular on the Rule 5 players?

He's still on the 40.  If he wasn't, he'd have renewed at the minor league rate.
