What steps are taken to come up with the rankings?

It"s a pretty complicated process. Here is what goes in to the rankings but not necessarily exact values.

For the Coach and Press rankings:
Average ratings, previous rankings,win percentage,scoring margin,and SOS go into the calculations.

For the WIS rankings:
Coach and Press rankings,home and road losses,scoring margin,losing and winning percentage, and SOS go into the calculations.

The process basiclly uses these factors to generate a number for each team by which it places the teams in a ranking order, so there isn't a process where it individually moves a team up or down.

This is why it's difficult to explain why a team is ranked at a certain spot over an other team and why we would like to spend some time to siplify this process.
