League Description
 
BIRTH OF THE BIG LEAGUES (BOBL) PROGRESSIVE
 
This league will use dual seasons, beginning with 1885 (the first season in the database) and 1915. It will progress from there to 1886/1916, then 1887/1917, and so on. Currently, we are about to begin the 1892/1922 season.  We are using the 16 franchises from the 1922 season. You can come up with your own mascot/team name, but must use the true city name and stadium for your franchise, again using 1922 as the reference point. We use WIS league E, so that we get 162 games and have 4 playoff teams. League affiliation will reflect RL, divisions are determined geographically. 
 
I would love to see the league run long enough to mirror some of the other RL evolution of the game, such as franchises relocating to new cities (starting in the 50’s), expansion (beginning in the 60’s), and the introduction of the DH (in the 70’s). If I can gather a group of owners dedicated enough to go 30+ seasons this way, then we’ll move forward with those changes in each corresponding season. That’s looking way, way ahead, though. Right now we have 9 of 16 original owners from season 1, and several others who have already played several seasons.  With 2 opening to fill, I’ll just start by filling and running this season...

Both teams have a lot of nice offensive weapons, st. Louis has baby doll Jacobson, Bug Holliday, Goose Goslin, Boston has Tip O'Neill and Jesse Burkett, giving Boston two elite hall of fame level hitters

We are heading into season #10, and this team is available.  We maintain 29-man rosters (optional), with 25 +4 assigned to AAA each season -- no fictional AAA players.  There are only 25 on the current roster, +2 on IR.

Philadelphia's roster for the upcoming season is below.  One of these will be assigned to AAA, and you may draft 3 more AAA players (treated as regular keepers), if you like.

Philly has several good pieces in place:  Eddie Collins, George Van Haltren, Urban Shocker, Emil Yde... pretty good foundation to work with for someone who enjoys building a team.

As one of the charter owners in this league, I want to give it a plug. This is a well run progressive with a great commish and good group of owners. There's no nonsense in this league - just a lot of great old time baseball. Eight owners have been in it from the start and we'd love to have you join us for season 10.
