My UMPI team went down in the Elite 8 last night.  Box score is here.  No sour grapes or anything as the other team was pretty damn good.  But here's my question.  I went back and forth several times trying to decide if I should run slowdown or normal tempo before deciding on slowdown.  Was slowdown the right call or should I have run normal tempo in this game?  Any thoughts and criticisms are much appreciated.  Thanks!

Those teams seemed reasonably matched.   I probably would have gone slow down based on the IQ's but I think it could certainly go either way.

Thanks, TJ.  That was my thinking as well.  I had the ath/def advantage, probably had the bench advantage, but his starters had better skill sets and his IQs across the board were better.  Ultimately, the starter's better skill sets + IQ advantage is why I ran slowdown.  The reason I went back and forth was I felt the best chance I had of getting his starters into foul trouble was to run normal tempo, but there was obviously no guarantee the foul trouble would have happened.

I would've run slowdown personally because of the IQ and Reb differences.  Rebounding was already a significant factor in the game and would've been even more so if you'd run normal.

fwiw I'm not sure that specifically trying to get a non-Press team into foul trouble is a reliable strategy.  It hasn't been for me anyway.

It works for me occasionally.
