i guess i meant to ask, what exactly does that entail? take & keep my team/organization & free agents into a new world...or just  a new world from scratch with groups of owners from other worlds?

I believe your current major league team and all the players in your minor league system get merged into a new world, which starts at season one.  So you keep all your players, but lose all the history.
