Indians select Kevin Brown from the Dodgers.

Dodgers are off the board.

Can someone sitemail for me?
Damn.  If I'd been around for my 4:30 pick I would have been sorely tempted to take Brown instead of the 2b the Red Sox need.

And I'm still wondering what pitchers alley(none of the available pitchers excites me with the #1 pick)viper was hoping would be available, if Brown and Peavy were not sufficiently enticing.
Well when guys like Lowe, Lincecum, Mets Pedro, Millwood (obviously unavailable) and others aren't terribly uncommon to be available in the first, someone like that would have been nice.

Also, this is a theme that has a history of extremely strange things happening. Michael Schmidt, Wade Boggs, Joe Morgan, Johnny Bench...I hoped I could get a little bit of that luck on my side this leg.

I believe Lowe was available when you were picking

Lowe was an initial keeper. He wasn't available for anyone.

Get those second round keepers in ASAP.  I have 14 of them so far.

Yeah, I'm pretty confident Lowe would not have made it through round 1 if he were exposed.

sg, has Lowe ever made it to round two if left unprotected?

The only way I could see that scenario happening is if both the Red Sox shortstops got scooped up before someone else could get Lowe.

Need four more keepers.

Lowe has been exposed seven times and selected in the 1st round five of those times.

The other two were basically sin's scenario. In leg 26, the Red Sox left Lowe and both shortstops unprotected, and the two shortstops went off first. Boston then pulled back someone else and Lowe went with the third pick in the second. (The Red Sox owner that leg? None other than sinfonian.) In leg 28, something similar happened but jstew pulled Lowe back.

Spoiled for choice with a few teams left on the board that I wasn't expecting - I'll go with Pete Rose - Cin.
The last 3 times the player in question was taken in Round 1 (though not the last 3 times he was available), he was taken by shaybee.
So you're saying he's like my Rolen?

Well, that's good to know.  I came very close to rolling the dice with leaving Lowe exposed.  This is the first time I've had the Red Sox, and I must say they present one of the more difficult sets of decisions.

Hey! tjeff's got the records, too!

I'm still not sure I'd have even taken Lowe anyway because McCovey is fantastic and a fairly crazy guy to expose in his own right. Someone of Lowe's caliber would have certainly made the decision trickier, though.

I spent way way way too much time a few weeks ago assembling some things.

Hey, I've been there (way way too much time spent).

As I recall, the Red Sox were pretty weak that leg, partly because we let Lowe go.  We also drafted Don Mattingly that leg, hoping that he'd hit about 60 doubles at Fenway.  That experiment was a dismal failure.  I think we won about 78 games.

Just need llcoach's keeper and we'll be set to start round two.
