Eureka! I found the book with help from google and ac. I had tried  google before but I left out the proper prompts apparently. Thanks for the hint, ac. The book is entitled "Ride the Thunder" by Richard Botkin and features Chuck Goggin as well as others. Some great photos, too. Chuck got his first hit in the same game as Clemente got his last. Good reading!
