My apologies for slacking on keeping up with the Challenge.  With it being Christmas week and having so much going on I honestly forgot to keep up with it once games began.  Here are the results so far:

Lincoln Memorial 63, Cal Poly Pomona 52
Cal Poly is one of the CCAA's 2 SimAI teams, and they played just like a SimAI team as mmd1821 and Lincoln Memorial cruised to the easy win in a true team effort with all 5 of his starters scoring between 7-12 points.

West Georgia 89, CSU Stanislaus 61
West Georgia and sslats cruised to an easy win as the CCAA's second SimAI led team played even more like a SimAI team than its first.  West Georgia was led by 20 points by Elijah Minaya off the bench and 15 points from starting PG Raymond Haider.

Sonoma St. 82, Arkansas Monticello 79
The first close game of the Challenge, this one was a thriller.  Sonoma St. coach ricosuave21 got a very balanced effort from his whole team, with 7 players scoring 7-12 points each.  Arkansas Monticello tied the game at 79 with 0:24 to play, only to be trumped by an old-fashioned 3-point play from Sonoma St. C James Cox with 4 seconds remaining.

CSU Dominguez Hills 64, Henderson St. 54
CSU Dominguez Hills and StrikeMike competed the night 2 sweep for the CCAA with a 64-54 win over Henderson St. and coach jarveson.  Dominguez Hills was led by 15 points from PF (playing SF) Paul Ramberg.

Central Arkansas 84, Grand Canyon 70
Central Arkansas coach austrader has to be pleased with his team's effort in this 84-70 road win, improving to 7-0 overall.  Grand Canyon coach rpalmerfox got 22 points from SF Dan Schuyler in the losing effort.

Ouachita Baptist 64, San Francisco St. 60
swany 623's Ouachita Baptist squad knocked San Francisco St. from the ranks of the undefeated in a 64-60 win on their home floor behind 28 points from their starting backcourt of Jeff Long and Allen Pendleton.

Gulf South leads 4-2 so far.

Christian Brothers 61, CSU San Bernardino 59
td16 and Christian Brothers pulled off a difficult road win at San Bernardino.  Leading by 10 with just 46 seconds to play it looked like this was a sure win for Christian Brothers, but CSU San Bernardino went on a wild 12-4 run over the next 38 seconds to close it down to 61-59.  After Christian Brothers' PG Joshua Nettleton missed 2 free throws with 7 seconds left, CSU San Bernardino's Joh Kim grabbed the board and CSUSB called a quick timeout to set up a final play.  Kim missed a floater in the late with 2 seconds left that would have sent it to OT and Christian Brothers held on for the win.

CSU Bakersfield 71, Arkansas Tech 64 (OT)
In a night of thrillers in the Challenge, CSUB and coach dan2044 picked up a huge OT road win over Arkansas Tech and coach isack 24 to keep the CCAA in the Challenge headed into the final night.  CSUB tied it with 30 seconds left in regulation when Dima Kossakowski made 1 of 2 FTs, and after CSUB's James Bryant stole a Robert Gagnon pass with 28 seconds left CSUB looked set to win in regulation until Robert Gagnon returned the favor and stole the ball from Dima Kossakowski with 1 second left to force OT, but the OT period was all CSUB as Bakersfield pulled off the 7-point win.

The Gulf South leads the Challenge 5-3 headed into the final night.  With 4 games to play, the CCAA will need a clean sweap to win the Challenge, or it will have to take 3 out of the 4 and outscore the Gulf South by at least 41 points in the 4 games combined to win the Challenge.

I'm travelling and not where I can do long writeups, but suffice it to say that the Gulf South won the Challenge yet again, this time 8-4.

Love reading these write ups mduncanhogs. Hope you get a chance to write the Game 10 write ups after your travels.

I love the write-ups, too, mdunc.

I love California, but can a sister get a home game (for a change) one of these years?

I'll probably lose, because I always play much better on the road.  Wait, I better be careful what I ask for....I might get it.
