was thinking about the Pirates, the lumbermen, but try building a $140mm cap team with the pitching options available.  Did Pittsburgh ever have a "great" pitcher?  And don't give me that Deacon Phillippe stuff!

redwingscup, I'm 35, Detroit's been my team since I was about 6. I'd use them before I'd use anyone else REGARDLESS and they're history of pitching isn't all that incredible. I'll be the first to admit, the pitching definitely IS NOT the bright spot of my team. Not to say, the McClain's and Verlander's were/are not great in reality, they just don't translate well to WiS, UNFORTUNATELY. Pirates have had some quality pitchers, but imho, nothing that'll translate well here. I use 1909 Babe Adams from time-to-time as a reliever, he's ok.

Thanks venom,  I moved from Detroit some 30+ years ago and live in CA so am a big Giants fan.  While I still like the Tigers, a lot,  I definitely found myself rooting for the Giants when the 2012 series was played.    You're correct about the Tiger's SIM pitching. I've had some luck with Newhouser and the 371 IP Trout, but not at this cap.   Adams would seem to be the only "good" prospective Pirate pitcher for this theme, although there is a Tannehill and Phillippe who might keep you in games, given the way you could load up with Pittsburgh hitting.

Never lived in Detroit myself (quite a ways away, in fact), but the Tigers had a minor league team here when I was a kid and beyond that I've always loved cats and tigers, so pretty much every team I chose when I was young was tiger-related. Detroit Tigers, Cincinnati Bengals, etc, etc. It doesn't help that I live in an area that when I was younger didn't really have any major sports franchises that close at all. Unless you count Atlanta which is about 650 miles away. I played shortstop and admired Trammell. Been a Tiger fan ever since. They should've never replaced him with Leyland, but what do I know?
