"This game is a maturity jump for us, because in the past what I've been a part of, we've been somewhat uncertain of how we will turn out in these types of games," Newton said. "We needed that type of game, just to be in a dog fight, in somewhat of a barnburner, to show what type of team this really is."

Cam got passed by Andy Dalton on the career passing yardage totals thanks to the Hail Mary, but Dalton has played one more game.

I almost feel sorry for Mike and JT. Weren't they selling that Tim Tebow was better than Newton a couple years ago?

Cam Newton became only the second quarterback to throw a go-ahead touchdown pass in the final minute of the fourth quarter against Bill Belichick's Patriots (2000-present). 

The only other player to do that against New England during the Belichick era was New York's Eli Manning. He did it twice, in the regular season in 2011 and in Super Bowl XLII on Feb. 3, 2008.

Silly stat to call out as notable: Russell Wilson did it last year with 1:18 left; there are probably others that are equivalent.

Cam Newton is clutch again with a game winning touchdown in the final minute.

"With our defense playing lights out, I can't stress enough that those guys were putting us in situations, ideal situations that we usually flourish in," Newton said. "But with it coming down to the final drive, it shouldn't have been.

"Lack of execution on offensive play. Lack of execution on my play. But at the end, that's when it all counts." 

Cam Newton breaks Peyton Manning's total offense record through 3 seasons.

With a start on Sunday Cam Newton will be the 3rd QB to start all 48 games of his three seasons joining Peyton Manning and Joe Flacco.

I don't put stock in Pro Bowl appearances, but I'll just quickly note Cam Newton makes his 2nd Pro Bowl in his first 3 seasons, joining 17 other QB's. Only Peyton Manning made the Pro Bowl in all of his first 3 seasons.
