Bye to Jacoby and Salty.....and hopefully Drew

Looks like Nap will be back.....and a lot of talk centered around Beltran (like him as a player...not sure I like him as a fit for Boston)

How does Farrell not win Manager of the Year?

X should be here and play everyday.....they might need 1 year stop gaps at C and CF, but I like the future of those positions

Middlebrooks is still a wild card....but they have pitching depth like almost no other team

I would argue Francona did more with less.  Indians played just as poorly as the Sox did in 2012.  And remember, it's a regular season award.

Girardi.    Cano, Gardner and Suzuki were the only expected regulars to get more than 340 PA.    And I'm being extremely generous by saying Chris Stewart was an expected regular.   Lyle Overbay was 4th on the team with 486.  Lyle Overbay.

Yea, that's fair too.  If that team made the playoffs, he'd have my vote.  And if you consider voting based on record vs run differential, Girardi takes it.

I'm obviously a bit biased but, for most of the year, I kept thinking "Who the hell is that and where'd he come from?"    I'm accustomed to the odd reliever being an unknown to me as they'll get called up in the afternoon and pitch that night.   But it happened with position players.    And, if you're stoked about getting Soriano and Wells in trade, you know your team is crap.   Yet, somehow, Girardi kept the Yanks in it up until the final week.   Best job by a Yankee manager in a long time.

I think it should have gone to Melvin.

Based on which beloved advanced metric?

Great team record vs. crappy talent?

The "talent" assembled in Boston had most people excited for a 5th place finish

Francona over Farrell this year is big market bias and nothing else...

They won 96 games and Bartolo Colon was their best pitcher.

I think most had Boston in 4th, FWIW.  People didn't believe in Baltimore, myself included.  I think it would be hard to argue Boston had less talent than Cleveland.

I think Salty agrees to the 2 year deal that's being reported as an offer by the Sox.  That'd be a great deal for both.

Farrell doesn't win manager of the year because $159,000,000 easily buys you a World Series.
