"rest" and "bench" Topic

I am sure this has probably been discussed before but since I missed it, how does one differ from the other? Thanks much.

Bench means the player is available to enter the game as a pinch hitter or runner, defensive replacement, etc.

Rest means the player is sitting out the entire game (except under extraordinary circumstances, say as an injury replacement when absolutely no other player is available).

I'm pretty sure that if a player is below his auto-rest %, he's treated as a player on rest.

If the player doesn't appear in the game, his fatigue improves.  Doesn't matter what his rest/bench setting was.
