Nat Clifton.

According to the Social Security Administration death records, he was born Clifton Nathaniel. Noted for his large hands, which required a size 14 glove, he was invited to join the Harlem Globetrotters, for whom he played from the summer of 1948 to the spring of 1950. Still a talented baseball first baseman, during the basketball off-season in 1949 Clifton played for the Chicago American Giants in Negro League baseball. By 1950, his performance with the Globetrotters, in particular his exceptional ball-handling ability, led to his signing a contract with an NBA team. Clifton claimed to have been given the "Sweetwater" nickname as a boy because of his love of soft drinks. (I would have gone with the nickname "Big Hands")

On May 24, 1950, Clifton became the second African-American player to sign an NBA contract (some sources conflict and list Clifton as the first African-American to sign in the NBA).

Thanks for the history lesson red.  Do I just pick now or should I wait til 4 for Benji's pick, which is still coming "shortly"?

No prob!

From what I remember in the ODL you can go ahead. Skipped is skipped, but can pick anytime. Ask Smokey to be sure I guess.

I'll just wait 13 more minutes.  Dont wanna create any controversies.  I LOVE my next pick, if Benji doesn't take him

OK, its 4 o clock.  Slippin Benji again.  I don't see this guys name on the Alpha list or remember anyone taking him, so I'll go with

"Butterbean" Bob Love (69-70 with the Bulls)
