older players get ratings killed when signed Topic

Can any of the long time vets, tell me the logic they are looking at here?  I get that it wont change and that they need to code in some sort of decline, but its nonsensical that older vets get killed just by signing. What sense does it make that a guy with no job, finally gets one and instead of being a good thing, its a huge negative in which his skills deteriorate across the board??  I signed this guy to a contract and then once I assigned him to my team, he got killed lost 14 ratings points total  Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Banana Mayne

My guess is your training budget is too low. On the other hand even with a high training budget he has been declining for 9 straight seasons so I'm not sure why you would be expecting that trend to stop.

He's a 38 year old hitter. His ratings are going to be in free fall all season. His "promotion" update is just the same as any other ratings update.

Not sure why you would have even signed him.  He's well below replacement level in addition to the massive decline.

Because he has the best. HBD name. Ever.

It's not just older players.   Any player signed after the 9th ST game will take a hit.  In theory, he's missed half of ST.

Hmm, I didn't know that. Another lesson learned.

Since I'm doling out lessons, players drop their demands to one year on the half-cycle between 8th-9th ST games.

I have to start paying more attention. Thanks again.

Edit: just recently I did sign a guy, during free agency, to a one year contract who was asking for two.

This is true, and it's what I was going to say-- but his particular drops are all in skills and none in training-related ratings, so I thought it might be just aging and not non-ownership.
