$85mil($90) League, 1949-1978 (Full) #108098 Topic

This is all summerfield. I suggested he run this theme for these years and he gave me his blessing to run it myself as he doesn't have the time....

1949-1978  #108098

My vision - create a realistic franchise league with 4 and 5 man rotations, real benches, platoons, trades & player movement, managerial and GM decisions, double switches, etc.....all the good stuff about baseball and WIS.

- 1949-1978, AVG AAA (6/2), Trades & WW allowed (within theme), NO DH, must use stadium used by your franchise during that timeframe

- $85m cap, let every franchise be competitive. Each owner will begin with $85m, which will be raised to $90m once the season starts. That will open up cap room for WW moves and trading. Also, the WW moves will create quality bench players available for trading and player movement.

- Each owner will draft a minimum 1450 IPs and 5500 PAs. Nobody will be able to come in short on stamina and potentially ruin the league.

- Owners are required to draft a quality bench/pen. Only 3 players on your roster can be less than $1.5m. Only 2 of those 3 can be less than $1m, and only 1 less than $500. So the cheapest you could go with your last 3 spots is a $200k player, a $500k player and one at $1m.

- WW within the theme. Only from your franchise from 1949-1978. Once a player is in the league with your franchise, you can't pick up that player on the WW. ie. if I draft the '60 Mazeroski, I can't swap him for the '65 Mazeroski on the WW (even if I waived him earlier).

-50 game live minimum to reach the playoffs

- Owners must use a 4 or 5 man rotation. No starter can start more than 3 more times than their real life starts. I'm asking owners to please try to keep things realistic. Don't reach the start limit for a pitcher and then throw him into the pen for another 5-10 relief appearances.

- This will be a 16 team league to coincide with the timeframe; less teams

I like the theme, but I dislike all those bench restrictions rules at such a low cap of $85M ... I would also lower minimum IP's required on pitching staff to 1350- never had any serious problem at that level ...

Sorry gus, keeping everything as is.

This theme has been run 3 other times (once with the years of '79-'08) and plays out quite well.

Gentlemen-  please do not get discouraged when drafting under the theme restrictions.  It is difficult, you need to put on your thinking caps!

BTW- the theme wizard states the IP restriction is 1375, it is actually 1450.  The engine only allows 1375 or 1500.  Please adhere to a 1450 innings cap.  Thanks.

Absolutely love this theme.  One of the best put out the last several years.

Put me down for the Pirates.

This is a terrible rule.  Doesn't allow you to utilize the guy's 10% pitch bonus in a pitchers' park, and if he gets the hook early a couple of times in simmed games you're just stuck leaving his innings sitting.

Doesn't make any sense in the context of a game which uses a guy's AVERAGE innings pitched to calculated his MAX reasonable pitch count.

I am stringent about the roster restrictions before the season starts.  This rules are pretty lax, there is no penalty for not abiding by it EXACTLY, just a baseline i.e. idea of the, well, theme of this theme.

I always appreciate the way you prose your questions or statements in such a pius and annoying fashion in here and in the forums dahs.  Hope you join!
