What Hillary Clinton once expected to be a coronation as Democratic nominee en route to her rightful place as America’s first female president is turning into a two-front war for political survival.

Facing a tag team of opponents, she is being assailed by her irascible socialist rival Bernie Sanders from the left and pilloried mercilessly by an ebullient Donald Trump, who clinched the Republican nomination last week, from the right. Both are surging in the polls as she slumps.

At the same time, the growing scandal over Clinton’s secretive email practices while she was secretary of state is reinforcing fears among voters that she is dishonest and cannot be trusted.

A bombshell State Department report issued last week raised the spectre of months of congressional investigations and perhaps even an indictment after an FBI investigation is completed.

The report found that Clinton flouted government rules while secretary of state by using a secret “home brew” email server that put classified information at risk. She allegedly told staff she wanted this email arrangement because “I don’t want any risk of the personal being accessible” — not out of “sheer convenience”, as she has claimed.

Clinton and her closest aides refused to co-operate with the State Department investigation ordered by her successor, John Kerry.

Although Clinton remains on track to be the Democratic candidate, Sanders has erased her once-comfortable poll lead in California, which votes on June 7. As the biggest prize in the primaries, a defeat there would seriously damage her chances of overcoming Trump in November.

Having lived in DC from 2010-2014, I can tell you that the Washington Examiner is a garbage publication. It was a free, daily, political tabloid handed out by homeless guys outside Metro stations in the morning as people are on their way to work. You'd often find copies all over the ground in densely traversed areas of the city, especially around train stations.

If this story is really accurate, it will receive wide coverage. I don't think it sounds entirely plausible.

Trump's mostly self-funded campaign now apparently needs help.

A report from the Washington Examiner says Trump representatives told Senate Republicans that the campaign "won't have much money to spend fending off attacks from Hillary Clinton" before the Republican National Convention in July.

Trump officially secured the party's nomination for president last week. Before that, the real-estate mogul's campaign said it would partner with the Republican National Committee to raise as much as $1 billion for the general election.

According to the Examiner report published Friday, the notice from Trump's campaign came after his senior adviser, Paul Manafort, met with some of the party's leaders last week.

"They know that they're not going to have enough money to be on TV in June and probably most of July until they actually accept the nomination and get RNC funds," the Examiner reported, citing an unnamed GOP source familiar with Manafort's comments.

Trump has mostly bankrolled his own campaign during the contentious primary season, reportedly spending tens of millions of dollars so far, according to Open Secrets.

The campaign earlier this month released documents that were submitted to the Federal Election Commission that claim Trump has a net worth of more than $10 billion.

Fluff piece. Pure fantasy.

Jeez, I'd have expected "He's a businessman. If he can keep his money, why wouldn't he?" from you.

Good news is that my campaign has perhaps more cash than any campaign in the history of politics- b/c I stand 100% behind everything we do.
-Trump on Twitter has assured me all is well.

New Jersey in play?!?!?

New Jersey has backed Democrats in every presidential election since 1992, but a new poll released on Tuesday shows that the state would be in play in a matchup between Hillary Clinton and Donald J. Trump — as long as Gov. Chris Christie is not on his ticket.

A poll from Monmouth University found that 38 percent of registered voters support Mrs. Clinton and 34 percent back Mr. Trump.

I bet Hillary wasn't even planning on stepping foot in new Jersey during her presidential campaign.... many more states will be in play that typically aren't and Trump's media presence is going to be near impossible for her to fend off. He'll swoop in, fill a stadium, and get out to the next state. Hillary will need to hit up many more venues to make the same impact.
