It was a little crazier than normal, but I've long felt D2 is naturally more of a coin flip than either D3 or D1 for a variety of reasons when it comes to the tournament. The 15 and 16 seeds are, in general, higher quality teams than either D3 or D1, so they're going to pose more of a threat than comparable seeds at other divisions. I also think there's more of a clustering effect at D2, so it's harder (in part due to recruiting changes implemented by Seble) for the top teams to distinguish themselves from "the masses" to the degree needed to convey a significant on-the-court advantage. The top teams still have an edge, but you reach the point where that edge might be 6040 in their favor a round or two quicker than you do at D3.
