#3.  I don't like 1 at all; I've never had luck with low power, bad eye hitters, plus his poor makeup rating makes it less likely he'll hit his lofty projections.  I like 2, but pitching rates a premium.  Rank them 3 then 2 and be happy with either one.

I agree with psychoch on #1 regarding his poor eye and makeup. To me the poor eye is more of a dealbreaker than poor contact, so I like #2 better.

About #2, I think his projection of 90 vR looks like a bit of a reach. However, he's really only got the one poor rating. I think the risk with him is that he might be a good but never great hitter, which could disappoint.

#3 has IMO a better shot at possibly being a stud. And my thinking is that at the top of the draft you want the player with the highest floor. Worst case, a good but not great SP is better to have than a good but not great position player.

This is a no brainer.

#3 gives you 2.5 era and 200 innings. He will win a cy young

I just realized you have the second pick. That sucks. Personally, I would go 3, 2, 4.

2 and 4 are a coin flip. I value position players higher than pitchers, especially young ones. You can almost always find a decent, cheap, 34+ year old starting pitcher. Position players with power are almost always done being major contributors at 32.

The draft was this morning.  Otpion 2 went 1st.  With the 2nd pick I took option 3.  Option 5 went 4th,  Option 4 went 11th and Option 1 was taken 13th overall.

Assuming scouting was accurate, congratulations. You get the best player.

I know I was the only one who liked #1, but I think the team that drafted him 13th got a great deal. He looks like he could be your world's all time leader in stolen bases and a Gold Glove winner.

I liked #1,  I almost picked him over #3.  But in the end I ranked #3 1st and #1 2nd.  I would have been okay with either.

This guy Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Julian Goya had ratings very similar to #1.  He was a stud for years.

How can you possibly call them very similar? That guy had twice the eye and three times the power. Not even remotely similar.

Well, except for the eye and power they're similar.

Question: does anyone know how much power affects batting average at the low end of the scale? I understand that a guy with a power of 90 will have a higher average than a guy at 70, because a lot of his fly balls will leave the park or go for doubles. But does the same thing happen at the low end?

I would expect a guy with 40 power like Mr. Goya to hit about 10 homers per year, while a guy with 20 power (like example number 1) wouldn't hit more than 5. But would Goya's power make him a better average hitter than Bachelor #1?
