When do player ratings update? Topic

Do they run shortly after games are simmed or does it seem to have a set cycle? Thanks!

I'm not sure anyone really knows the answer to this question... from all I can tell, it will generally occur after games are played, but I'm not really sure as development happens randomly based on the player. Perhaps someone with more knowledge could enlighten me as well?

Pretty sure it's a set cycle, not every game. I haven't tracked it, so what I'm going to say is based on loose observation.

Keep in mind that the players who progress the most are 18 year olds. Improvement lessens gradually as they age. So the only way to track this, I guess, would be to play an 18 year old for 38 games. Also, from what I've seen, there is a hidden improvement attribute. Some progress faster than others, some progress with no playing time at all.

With that in mind, I think it goes Rollover / Before first game / about every ten games (or weeks?). In the case of 18 or 19 year olds, you may even see a bump after signing contracts.

Also players that haven't been played a lot can compensate. Had a 22 y old FW, who got 7 points on shooting for 1 season.

I dd not know that! It does explain players who play most of their careers for AI teams, then one day you scout them and realize they're good.

Honestly is one of my "secrets" I can sign a 50OA 20y old player and build him to low 60 for a minimal cost.

That's great because I've found that so many owners who are looking for young players to develop seem to only look at the 18 year olds... they must think you HAVE to get an 18 year old. I've found a number of players at 19, 20, 21 who get no action in free agency, and I've picked them up at a fraction of the cost of the 18 year olds.

Your information also indicates that it's alright to sit a young player for a season or two if you have no room for him in the lineup, and it won't necessarily crush his later value.

It seems that each player had some stats developement that is pre-set and probably if you play it at 18y will grow more, but also as you can see 22 y player can be also developed, and is cheap.

Don't mind having 90+ shooter for 100k per season.

Glad to share my knowage damag.

Yep. I've signed players as old as 23 who saw pretty much no playing time prior to joining me and I developed them into solid players. It's also one of my "top secret" kind of things. As one example, here's a mid I signed as a 23 year old in S31. He had only played one full season (the season prior to joining my team) with an AI team:

The last part is not *completely* true. It's not inaccurate, but from what I've noticed, a player who develops later seems not to improve *quite* as much as he might have if he'd been played from the start.

Yep, but it still is way better than player who was played 38 games per season:)

This is a timely discussion, as we're currently in World 63's pre-season. It's had an effect on the players I'm picking up. I've revised my team-building strategy a little bit, in the past few days.

Keep us posted how will work out.
