Scrabble ball -- $120 million (Wait list) Topic

Pick one player whose first and last names add up to at least 15 points in basic Scrabble letter point values. Then draft players whose last names begin with those letters in numbers that equal the letter point values. All additional players beyond the ones that fit the core player's name must have last names that begin with letters valued at only one point.

Use Babe Ruth for example. That's B(3)a(1)b(3)e(1). R(1)u(1)t(1)h(4). Six players' names must begin with B and four with H; and A, E, U, and T will each require one player. The additional 10 players' names must begin with A, E, I, L, N, O, R, S, T and U, one each. (If core player's name is worth more than 15 points then the owner can choose which of the one-point letters to use to complete the roster. CLARIFICATION: This rule conflicts with the example below. Since this has been questioned, we'll go with the example below; that is, you can discount any letter, if your player's name is worth more than 25 points.)

Amended Rule: Each core player is exclusive for Scrabble counting purposes only. (And he must be on the team's roster.)

Here are the Scrabble point values: 1 = A E I L N O R S T U, 2 = D G, 3 = B C M P, 4 = F H V W Y, 5 = K, 8 = J X, 10 = Q Z.

Eligible player seasons: years in which World Series was played ; 1903-2014, but not 1904 or 1994.

$120 million salary cap.
No = DH AAA clones injuries or WW.
Stadium name must begin with a letter from core player's name.

Examples:

Christy Mathewson = 32 points. Owner needs to draft only up to Scrabble value of 25 points, and could leave off the second h, the second t and i and n.

Greg Maddux = 23 points. An obvoius handicap here, because an owner would need to find 8 players with X names.

Addie Joss = 18 points. Needs 8 J players, lots of S and D players, and 7 extra-letter players.

Robinson Cano = 16 points. Needs 3 B players and 3 C ones, plus 9 extra-letter players.
