DEL MAR, Calif. August 16 (CBSNewYork/AP) — Triple Crown champion American Pharoah worked a half-mile Sunday in Del Mar, California, under the watchful eye of trainer Bob Baffert and owner Ahmed Zayat.

The 3-year old colt was timed in 47.60 seconds under Martin Garcia, who rides American Pharoah in the mornings. It was his first official timed workout since winning the Haskell Invitational two weeks ago.

Zayat — a Teaneck, New Jersey resident — is aiming for American Pharoah to close out his racing
career in the $5 million Breeders’ Cup Classic at Keeneland on Oct. 31.

This theme is similar to the pick a player in 25 consecutive years . . . .
except, years here are Not consecutive and you have 31 years to choose your 25-man roster from.

TRIPLE CROWN WINNERS & NEAR MISSES

On June 6 in the Belmont Stakes, American Pharoah became the first Triple Crown winner in 37 years. He will return to the track and to racing in the Aug. 2 Haskell Invitational at New Jersey’s Monmouth Park.  By sometime this fall, he will be retired from racing.

Over the years, we have had 12 Triple Crown Winners and 20 Triple Crown Near Misses (horses who won the first two races but lost in the Belmont)..  In this theme, you draft one player per season/year (minus 2015 of course)  of winners and near miss-ers.

You'll have 31 different years/seasons to draft your 25 players ---- One player, full or partial, bench, etc, per year..
