As I said earlier, the criminal did not cooperate.   He therefore put himself in danger.    Had he chosen to cooperate, he would not be dead.   Not being dead seems like a nice goal.

At the end of the day, it seems the argument stems around "Cops shouldn't murder people."   Well, Einsteins, no ****.    My point is that the citizen/criminal puts himself in a position that allows the cop to make a bad decision.    And the citizen/criminal ends up dead.    Take personal responsibility and don't put yourself in a position where you might end up dead.   Everyone knows cops carry guns.   Everyone knows that they are authorized to use them.   Therefore, don't give them a reason.    Sure, cop gets charged, maybe convicted, but dead is dead.   You can't come back from that.

If you push this button, there's a much higher than normal chance that something bad will happen to you.  You might get hurt.  There's a possibility that you might even get killed.

Why are you pushing the button?

The lack of cooperation maybe didn't force him to commit murder but it did force him to make a decision. Initially, before the shot was fired, Dubose made the wrong decision. Then Tensing followed with the wrong one as well, but Dubose could have eliminated both by cooperating in the first place.
Again, obviously, people should cooperate with police, but the punishment for not cooperating isn't death. Tensing deserves to go to prison.

He put his life in the cop's hands.   Cop goes to prison for taking it.    Dude is still dead.    Win for dead guy?

Well, depending on the cop, not only does it look like it could be, it was. Too bad for both.
Are you arguing that it isn't smart to run from cops?

No ****.

No one is arguing otherwise.

My point is, if you do make the bad decision to run, the cop shouldn't be allowed to murder you. Luckily, Tensing is being charged with murder. The scary part is that, absent the body cam, he would have gotten away with it.

Makes me wonder how many other shootings were as unjustified as this one.

You suggest that the cop should have let him drive away. Then what? Evidently you feel if someone doesn't cooperate the cops should just let them go. How is that going to make things better?
If you're restricting the choices to two, shoot him in the head or let him get away, then yes, let him get away.

There are other options. The most sensible seems to be what any other cop would do, get in your car and follow him. If he gets away, oh well, you have his plate. Wait for him at home.

I bet, if he's honest, Tensing would choose this option if he could do it over again.

Yes, if someone is breaking the law, can't be identified and doesn't cooperate with police, the police should just let them go.   Surely nothing bad could come from that, right?    Let's let this potential menace to the public walk away because, if the police try to do their job, someone might get hurt.

badluck is such a liberal dipshit.   Honestly, if justice were to be served, the police would behave in the way that BL suggests and the criminal would kill everything BL loves.   Wonder if that would change BL's perspective?
