Davey Johnson hit 43 of his 136 HR 13-year career in 1973. His second best season saw him hit 18 in 1971.

Finally someone said Mark Fidrych. I have one that I need someone's help to find out. I saw this one time in Bleacher Report that some West Coast team, I think the Giants or the Dodgers had this one first baseman bat .600 in spring training. Excited, the Giants immediately made him their starting 1st baseman where he went on to be a huge bust and disappoint. I'll be searching for it but I might need some help

Ray Fosse was mentioned in a side note and not as a nominee, but he may actually qualify even with the "stricter" criteria.  He's more or less known to most baseball fans these days as the guy Pete Rose wrecked in an All-Star game.

Pretty sure you're thinking of Randy Elliott...  this article lists some nicknames and some stats.  I seem to remember him as the Phoenix Phenom or some equally lame nickname.
