Right... added point, I'd carry that type of guy for sure if he had a premium glove.  I used to have one who was my backup C, he's now the starting C for a much better team than mine.  That team is loaded with sluggers so they can carry a defensive whiz along.

It seems that every single guy with ratings of  "under 30 contact / over 80 power / under 40 splits / over 80 eye " are the russian roulette of HBD.   Ive given up on making sense of their statistics versus their ratings.

Revisiting this.    Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Russ Cyr has made some huge gains(he was claimed and returned during R5 draft).    Looks like this undrafted FA might become a legit benchwarmer at the BL level.

I think crappier teams get more useful DITR than solid teams.  ?  When my main team was rebuiliding, I was getting a stud RP every year.  Once they were winning 100 games a year, I got average/crappy diamonds.  Im currently running a takeover team which isnt very good, and they got two solid DITR this season.

Yeah, I'm sure that's incorrect unless something has changed with the last update.    I recall someone saying "MikeT has the best team in the league and he got 4 future BL DITR!!!"    And I know I've had crap teams with crap DITR.

This should probably be I the 'ask the MikeT thread but I feel Tosoni is a good reference. How much can power in a hitter make up for the lack of other ratings? If you have a 1B with 90-95 power does it overshadow if he has a 40 contact and 40 vs R? I'm always torn on this because I don't have a large BL sample size to go off of.
90 power and 90 eye can overcome some pretty low splits and contact. This guy has been a pretty solid 1B for me for a few years:

Sorry for the pasted link (I'm typing on my phone). Anyway, that guy has 36 contact and 52/52 splits, but he also had 90/88 power/eye until his power declined this year. He won the rookie of the year and 3 World Series rings as a middle of the order hitter, and averaged 36 homers per season (albeit in New Orleans, a slight hitter's park.

I would never count on a 40/90/50/50/90 guy to anchor my lineup, but if you need a cheap player to occupy a slot and hit a few homers, you could do worse.

He has low everything besides great power and is turning out to be a very good power hitter with a much better average than expected. Yes it is still a small sample size and park factor likely is helping some, but 14 contact, 50ish splits and sub 40 eye all seems to be trumped by 98 power.

Has anyone seen a ratings drop in DITR? Everth Romo saw his P2 drop from 90 to 83 after becoming DITR.

I think - think - that the interesting thing I'm seeing is that some DiTRs appear to be continuing to develop even in the seasons after getting the bump.  Did that use to happen before?

Angel Bagley was a past waiver claim who wasn't even getting playing time when he got the DiTR bump in season 35.  Last season (36) his overall increased four points, at age 24.

Don't want to at all say this is definite, but it's something I'm keeping an eye on.

I've previously noticed DITR's increasing well past the bump, even into their late 20's. Continuing to increase past their projections.

Fair enough.  Quite possible it was happening before.  I really never paid long term attention to the DiTRs before because I've never had one that looked possible to make the bigs.

Yes,  Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Takahiro Lin  had his 2nd pitch drop seven points upon being a DITR.   He gained it all back I believe, i forget what the P2 was originally

Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Tim Hudek  was still gaining points in his 12th and 13th seasons.  He's so old school he doesnt even have the diamond in the top left corner

[I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but whenever I click on one of these player links it is taking me to the homepage of the world I was last active in. Same effect happens when I try to copy and paste the URL.]

Anyways, I just wanted to comment that DITR still seems like it's only relevant for catchers and relievers ...

However, I will say that they granted me one whose development seems utterly ridiculous: www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/PlayerRatings.aspx
(can't figure out how to link to forum clipboard, it seems like they forgot to put that in. Either that or I can't find it)

Catcher, age 24, acquired DITR in S19

Before:
Spring Training     19     6-0     174     45 (OVR)     9   (RAN)     40     83     70     90     72 (DUR)     85     19     80     30     80
Spring Training     19          49 (CON)     0       22     44     28     46     64     38

After:
Spring Training     20     6-0     177     63 (OVR)     39 (RAN)     51     84     74     91     73 (DUR)     85     19     82     30     81
Spring Training     20          62 (CON)     39     43     61     50     60     65     38

So yeah, in summary, year-over-year +30 range, +11 glove, +4 AA, +1 PC (but whatever he was already at 90), +13 contact, +39 POWER !!!, +21 vL, +17 vR, +22 eye, +14 BR, +1 bunting. Those are outrageous boosts.

Projected                       6-0     180     83 (OVR)     60 (RAN)     69     93     75     91     73 (DUR)     88     20     89     30     94
Projected                             70 (CON)    69     81     91     81     64     69     47

If he gets anywhere near those projections .....

Plus, players dont decline as rapidly if they are a diamond.  Guzman will play until he's 44.  That's a gem right there
