Just a topic for folks to bat around,,best third and fourth hitters in the same lineup....could be used a bit loosely, with understanding that lineups change a bit daily. I guess we should eliminate Ruth and Gehrig,,surely most people's clear choice.

Clemente and Stargell come to mind, and Mays and McCovey. 

Also Eddie Matthews and Henry Aaron...with Joe Adcock batting fifth ! 

In fact a subset could be, along with the many best 3-4 combos, who is the best number 5 hitter ever?

I am pretty sure cochrne hit 3 mostly and foxx 5, maybe best 5 hitter ever, Ortiz and manny, even fred lynn and rice, but lynn spent years hitting 5 or 6, cause of yaz
