one player per drafted season, so it's possible you could draft the same season up to four times

e.g., you might have a set of seasons like this after the draft to spend your cap on

51-53-54-55-56-57-58-75-96-13-14-14

As an example, here is a team built from slots 5,10, 15 and 20

96-97 Anthony Mason PF 17.6 52.4 33.1 52.5 7.0 22.5 17.5 1.1 0.6
09-10 LeBron James SF 33.7 55.6 33.2 54.5 2.9 17.4 28.0 2.0 1.5
01-02 Steve Nash PG 23.1 49.7 45.4 55.4 1.9 7.6 27.8 0.8 0.1
84-85 Artis Gilmore C 20.0 61.9 0.0 62.3 9.5 23.8 5.1 0.6 3.4
89-90 Dennis Rodman PF 12.3 58.6 11.2 58.2 15.4 20.2 3.6 1.0 1.5
67-68 Jerry West PG 25.5 55.0 35.1 53.9 4.5 9.2 16.8 1.7 0.4
69-70 Walt Bellamy C 19.7 54.9 0.0 54.7 12.2 19.7 5.2 1.1 3.7
87-88 Tyrone Corbin SF 17.8 48.7 33.9 49.0 8.5 15.0 11.1 2.1 0.3
64-65 Wayne Hightower PF 17.7 35.2 37.8 36.8 9.7 19.0 3.6 1.0 0.8
55-56 Jesse Arnelle PF 22.5 33.3 34.8 34.1 12.4 24.5 6.4 1.7 0.0
57-58 Mccoy Ingram PF 18.3 23.4 31.7 33.0 11.2 22.2 9.8 2.4 0.0
53-54 Al Masino PG 25.7 61.2 33.0 52.4 11.0 4.5 20.7 5.2 0.0

some of those season packages are beyond bad.  Anything including the 50s is just terrible, and one of them has two 50s (and a 70).  I would suggest balancing the season packages a bit.  There are very few competitive players from the 50s, 60s & 70s.  Pretty much anything in the 50s is a poison.  Pretty much anything in the 60s is as well, with a few exceptions (many of whom will be too expensive for a $48m cap with no rookies).  The randomized packages completely turns me off to the idea.

thohoops, I think it would be better to have a ABBA draft when everyone drafts a season and each season must be in a different decade (a season couldn't be drafted more than once per round).

inclusion of the earlier pro-seasons was meant for the challenge factor -- e.g., if you want two premium seasons, are you willing to take a 50's player as well

another way to do this is to have a collection of 48 unique seasons, where each owner contributes their "favorite years" not yet in the mix
  • generate one random master draft list with 24 season pairs
  • 6 round draft -- ABABAB draft order
  • no clones
  • no exclusive player rights
in theory there should be no "bad" seasons, but it still leaves some tradeoffs when deciding what pair of seasons to select

Let's say I had the first pick in round 1 and I picked 2013.  That season couldn't be drafted by anyone else in round 1, but could be drafted in rounds 2-4.  In rounds 2-4 I would have to draft in a different decade.

I believe he's trying to say that the packages of seasons aren't balanced at all.  Some of them are basically worthless.

that's exactly what I was saying.  There's no challenge to a package that won't get drafted at all (or if it does, that team is basically forfeiting $10).

so  you have drafted 4 seasons, and you would pick 3 from  each ?

what did you think of the "owner nominated" seasons ?

Sounds fun, I'll join.
