I actually would prefer a 16 team conference with 4, 4 team pods (you get four major 16 team conferences and then have the winners play in the playoff, perhaps you put a minimum wins or rank so if one of the conferences is really crappy one year they aren't guaranteed a spot).  You rotate your other pod every two years and then play 1 team from each of the other pods.

So if the Big Ten were to add OU and TX you would have something like this

Pod 1 - OSU, UM, IND, PUR
Pod 2 - PSU, MSU, MD, RUT
Pod 3 - OU, TX, ILL, NW
Pod 4 - NEB, IOW, WIS, MINN

So you have 7 "division" games and then you play 1 "rival" from the other 2 pods for your 9 game conference schedule.  You try to make the rivals as balanced as possible and keep as many rivalries as possible.  So OSU might have PSU, ILL, WISC.  UM might have MSU, OU, MINN.  IND might have MD, TX, IOW.  and PUR gets RUT, NW, NEB.  Or whatever.

So year 1 - Pod 1 and 2 play and Pod 3 and 4 play
Year 2 you reverse the home and away.
Year 3 - Pod 1/Pod 3 and Pod 2/Pod 4
Year 4 - reverse home and away
Year 5 - Pod 1/Pod 4 and Pod 2/Pod 3
Year 6 - reverse home and away

Then you repeat the process.  So every 6 years you play in every stadium in the conference.

Do you think SOS will matter this season, moranis?
11/29/2015 11:47 AM
SOS always matters dumbass.

Explain how it mattered this year, dumbass.

All signs point to Clemson being #1 and Bama #2.     Clemson played no one except ND/FSU.    Bama only played SEC teams(and you seem to think the SEC is vastly overrated).    So how'd the SOS affect them, dumbass?

It's OK to say "Well, the way things worked out, it didn't matter this year.  But, someday, it will."    Because that's true.   This year, like last, we'll get 0-1 loss conference champions.

Of course, if UNC and/or Florida pull big upsets, the dynamic changes.   I can't envision a scenario that will make SOS matter this year but there might be one.

Iowa wins, Bama wins, Oklahoma is in UNC wins.

Debate between UNC and Ohio St. could include SOS since UNCs was extremely weak.

Who did OSU beat?   Michigan lost to Utah.  VaTech sucks.

North Carolina's only win would be Clemson. They played two FCS schools. I'm not arguing for Ohio St. I'm just saying that's the one case where SOS could matter this year.

It is a very real possibility that a team that lost to Texas will be playing a team that lost to Nebraska in the National Championship game.

NEBRASKA!

SOS always matters, some years it is more of a determining factor than others.  You seem to take the position that it only matters when it decides things, which is just a silly position.  It always matters, some years other things just matter more.

Answer the question, dumbass.

How does it matter this year?

It seems to me that we are getting 4 clear conference winners with 0-1 losses.   Just like last year.

11/30/2015 10:04 AM
BTW, this is complete nonsense:   "You seem to take the position that it only matters when it decides things, which is just a silly position"

If it doesn't decide anything, why does it matter?
11/30/2015 1:48 PM
SOS is one of many factors.  They all matter every year to varying degrees.  This is what the committee has said time and time again.  You just choose to ignore it.
11/30/2015 2:24 PM
SOS didn't matter last year, SOS will not matter this year barring some upsets.   It's just a fact.   You can keep spouting your nonsense but it's very apparent to everyone that finishing with 0-1 losses AND winning your conference is what matters.
