The current 7-0 start by the Orioles is the second best in their franchise history. What was the best start to a season by that franchise ?

Orioles? 5-0 in 1970, when they won the World Series.
Franchise? Browns in 1944, when they went 9-0.
O, what fun we're having!

Okay, so the three players who have led off both games of a double header with a home run are:

Harry Hooper May 30, 1913

Rickey Henderson July 5, 1993

Brady Anderson August 21, 1999

Name the pitchers with the top 3 won-list records against the NY Yankees (minimum 20 decisions ).

Jolie Hanrahan was the winning pitcher of a game between the Nationals and Astros on July 9 2009. What team did he pitch for?

I'll guess Roy Halladay as one of the top 3 for best record vs. NYY. I watched a lot of those games -- Doc would really crank it up a notch against the Yankees.

I'm thinking a good AL pitcher during the mediocre 1965-75 Yankee era might be an answer here, too. One of the three Orioles -- Palmer, Cuellar, McNally?

That's four guesses. Sorry!

Roy Halladay is indeed in third place all time on the list of pitchers' won-lost records against the Yankees. (min. 20 decisions).

As of 2010 he was 18-6 against the Yankees, though I am having trouble locating more up-to-date data. But pitching for the Phillies after 2009 he would have faced them quite infrequently at most. But as of that date he had a .750 winning percentage against the Yankees.

Two other pitchers have done even better. Two pitchers VERY well known to people here at WIS.

The Orioles trio ruined much of my childhood but don't make the top 3. Though I still want a do over of the last month of the 1974 season. Grrh..

Pedro and Maddux right?
My original guess would've been AJ Burnett until you gave that clue. Where's he on the list?

The A's Rube Walberg gave up more home runs to Babe Ruth than any other pitcher.

Walberg was raised on a farm near Rock Creek, Minnesota, roughly five miles from where I grew up some 80 years later.

Joel Hanrahan? I could have sworn he was with the Pirates in 2009, but he came up with the Nationals. I still lived in Virginia then.

Yes, the answer is: the Pirates !! Hanrahan started the game for the Nats, it was postponed in the 11th inning (rain or something, I forget now), and the end of the game was played months later on July 9. By that time Hanrahan had been traded to Pittsburgh. He was the pitcher of record, and so won a game between Houston and Washington while playing for Pittsburgh that day.
