The pitching question was great, sorry I missed that whole thread.

I don't think I understand what the question about catchers is? Most games played at that position?

Yogi Berra
Mike Piazza
Pudge Fisk
Pudge Rodriguez
MIckey Cochrane

If I have understood the question as being about number of games played.

I was sure Rick Ferrell was on this list - I had him in a progressive, years ago - but then I looked it up and saw I was wrong.

Pudge
Bob Boone
Fisk
Carter
Bench

??

Several people said Bench now... I really don't think he's all that close to this list. He moved to the CIF positions by his fairly early 30s... Not everybody can be like the Pudges and catch into their 40s, but I don't see Bench being that close.

My feeling is that the list is going to be disproportionately modern. I guessed Ausmus, but there have been a lot of guys - Piazza, Posada, Bengie Molina - who have continued catching into their late '30s, which used to be a lot more rare. Modern medicine I guess...

Don't know why I didn't think of AJ Pierzynski. Probably could be a better guess than Ausmus...

Interesting question. I looked it up. The top 4 have all been mentioned already. #5 is the big surprise.

Ditto. Most of us don't realize how long this guy's career was...

Here are a couple harder but similar ones.

1. Who holds the record for most consecutive successful stolen base attempts, and how many was it?

2. Who holds the record for most consecutive starts won, and how many was it?

3. Who holds the record for most consecutive appearances without being relieved, and how many was it? (This is an incredible stat)

4. Who holds the record for most consecutive perfect innings pitched, and how many was it?

5. In the modern era (post 1919), who holds the record for most consecutive innings pitched without allowing a homerun, and how many was it?
Did 1, 2, and 5 ever get answered?

Isn't Al Lopez the catcher? He held the record for a long time.

Lopez is #9 on the list. He must have held the record for a long time as none of the guys ahead of him started before 1969.

Lance Parrish?

I think Mitchell Page held the consecutive stolen base streak for awhile, but that was the 80's.

There is one guy with more who did it more recently, at least, though not by too much

I think Vince Coleman has the SB record. I remember Ichiro was nearing it at one point and I think Coleman was the guy he was chasing.
