Benito Santiago was #10. I didn't think he was anywhere near that high on the list.

Did anyone guess Sundberg? He's #8.

Bengie Molina is tied with Matheny at #55. Yadi, at age 33 has moved to 35th. He would need 400+ games to crack the top 10.

Same, I can't believe I didn't get it. I'm a younger fan if that helps

When I saw the list, I know I wouldn't have gotten it. And I used to use the guy in open leagues...

I would have guessed Terry Kennedy or Ted Simmons ahead of him.

Rick Dempsey is at #20? Even that is shocking. He played that long? From '69 to '92? Even Courtney Love would have to admit that's a long time to be on your knees...

Since we are looking at catchers, #32 on the list is Rollie Hemsley (I have him on a Progressive Team). Rollie was a hard drinker, his drinking was so bad the team paid to have his wife go on road trips to try and slow him down. What finally slowed Rollie down was his young daughter, she later became Miss Missouri. In 1940 he caught a no-hitter by Bob Feller and revealed his association with AA. He broke the group's anonymity protocol, and was the first to do so on a national level. The rest is history.

I tried to look it up. Why was their a group anonymity protocol and why was it a big deal?

The AA was a small mutual aid started in 1935 in Akron Ohio by a Bill Wilson and a Dr. Bob Smith. When Rollie spilled the beans Mr. Wilson decided to go on a publicity tour and AA grew from there. Anonymity is one of the cornerstones of AA, no one would want their name attached to being an alchoholic.
