The AA was a small mutual aid started in 1935 in Akron Ohio by a Bill Wilson and a Dr. Bob Smith. When Rollie spilled the beans Mr. Wilson decided to go on a publicity tour and AA grew from there. Anonymity is one of the cornerstones of AA, no one would want their name attached to being an alchoholic.
i beg to differ

Not a famous baseball saying:

It's not over till the fat lady finishes her nachos and flips over to SportsCenter.

Simmons played 450+ games at 1B or DH, and a few in the OF...

Had more hits and RBI than Fisk. Pudge was a better defensive player for sure. My guess is that if Simmons had a WS ring or two he would get more serious HOF consideration. What I didn't know was that he was on the STL '68 team, having been a late season callup.

What New York Yankee hit 60 home runs in a single professional season before Babe Ruth did it?
5/28/2016 7:03 PM
I think Lazzeri did it in the PCL one year....
5/28/2016 7:43 PM
Lazzeri is correct, he hit 60 in the PCL in 1925. However, Tony played in 197 games, so give him the Asterisk of Shame.

I would have guessed Bonds as well, but according to baseball-reference.com, that is not correct. Bonds hit 9 off Maddux, but another player hit 10.
