I'm guessing Duke Snider, Big Klu, and Little Luis.

Wow, Kluszewski had way less good seasons than I thought.

I'd guess Mantle for one of the sluggers.

300 HR: Duke and Gil

Same 2 players, I believe, for 1000 RBI

Good quiz here re: most HR in the 1950s (the top 16, or every player with 200 or more):

www.sporcle.com/games/kingmob91/most-homeruns-in-the-1950s

I got 15 out of 16, and the last one I got was the #2 guy, and only with a few seconds left.  Not a name that really jumps out at you.

12/16, and I only missed one that I really should have gotten.  The other three (even though I met one of them in person) would NEVER have crossed my mind.

300 HR and 1000 RBI in the 1950s... Has to be the Denora Greyhound and Mantle.
Most stolen bases... Mays

Thanks for this post crazystengel. I got the answers instead from Bill James Baseball Historical Abstract page 224.

The answer to both the 300 HRs and 1,000 RBI is Duke Snider and Gil Hodges.

Willie Mays had the most SB in the 1950s.

I got the first five in order with no problem on this quiz and then had to just fire wild guesses. Most of them wrong. I had no idea that Yogi had so many, and I thought that Banks, Williams and Mays ranked higher. I did not get half of them at all and was surprised that Mr. Aaron was not there. Good quiz.

A related question...who are the only 4 players to accumulate 2000 hits in a calendar decade?  (Defining decade as the ten years from xx00-xx09)

3 of the 4 I expect most people would get reasonably quickly...the other one is really tough.

Ok, let's try:

Pete Rose 1970s
Ty Cobb 1910s
Ichiro 2000s
Frankie Frisch 1920s?

The professor went 2-for-4.
2/9/2016 9:11 AM
Rose - 1970s
Ichiro - 2000s
Hornsby - 1920s

Cobb is a logical guess but he never did it.

Maybe Ed Delahanty - 1890s?

Rose, Ichiro, and Hornsby are correct.

Cobb, as ozo points out, is not.  The war-shortened 1918 season and his injury (I assume?) in 1914 kept him a bit short of 2000 in the 1910s.

I wonder if anyone will get the 4th guy...there are a couple of references to him as the 4th that I can find on the internet, but not many.
