My apologies.  I completely missed the pick when it was made.  Thought it would be odd that he wouldn't get drafted!

Ryan Howards one year would be an amazing DH season. Even with the 100+ Ks, I'll take that type of OBP and HR/100
I've never had success with 2006 Ryan Howard.  He K's twice as much than real life and hits maybe 25 HR's.

Da nada...

Hardly worth an apology...

1985 Pedro Guerrero is another player that always seems to SIM well for me!

Yeah, he's certainly expensive for the numbers he'll put up, but he's still not a bad pick-up for the left-over team. Having 181 ks in this type of league, is a recipe for disaster, but certainly could be worse.

The problem I think he runs into, is that you're paying for the average, OBP and HR, but he'll never match those numbers given his Contact Rate and K numbers.

Chris Davis is even worse. Over 200 K's!!

Things to remember for next time... I think this league would be far better with a more restrictive salary. I also think it'd be more fun in a decade format. It's much harder to put together a squad, and much more managerial when you are limited to a small selection of players.

It'd also be cool to see more pitching duels. I've had like five 20 run games already in this league... We'd have to change how we do the ballpark selection too.

Well the all star break has come and gone, the top records at the break picked 17th and 20th I believe, 14 of the 24 first round picks made the all star team, only (7) 2nd rounders, and (4) in each of the 3rd and 4th rounds. Meaning a total of 29 of the first 96 players taken (30%) in the draft made it to the all star game. The lowest draft pick to make it was from the 18th round along side him (1) from the 15th, (2) from the 14th, and (2) from the 13th also. I led the way with 7 players making it. Ej, Kyle, and jbar all had 5 guys invited. 7 of the top 16 overall picks DID NOT MAKE IT....ouch and how important is it to pick an all star in the first round??? There are 10 teams with losing records and 9 out of those 10 teams their first round pick didn't make the all star team!! Just some fun info, GL to everybody in the second half!!

Season ending write-up : Playoffs are starting soon, there's a 1 game playoff for the NL west title with loser getting the WC, then everything will be set. I went over the stats and wrote down some things that caught my eye, good and bad and thought I'd share them here. Best record was 101-51 worst 51-111 MVP's Ruth, Mantle (Ruth also got SS and surprisingly the GG too??), Christy and Silver won the CY awards, Gagne (.94 era, .91 whip, .138 oav!!) and Rodney (47 out of 48 saves) got the Fireman awards.
League avg's .289 .356 .413
pitching avg's 5.21 era 1.58 whip 144 p/g 3.5/5 bb/k ratio
sb success rate was 65%, Bench led the way at 60% pudge right behind him at 56% Hamilton led in SB but only at a 63% rate Lofton had 77 at an 80% rate
Joe Jackson won the batting title by a lot at .391
Gehrig led with 42 HR, Ruth had 41, and Foxx had 40
Foxx won the RBI crown with 176
Ruth's dominating performance was highlighted by being the only player over 1.000 ops, he also had 177.68 rc 23 more than 2nd
some notable down performances I caught were McGwire hitting .201 with only 19 HR and he K'd a league leading 177 times playing in a +1,+1 park!!
Bonds led the league with 220 bb's but only hit .287 with a dismal 15 HR's
Ted Williams stat line was .320 .442 with 25 hr 122 rbi
Bench although clearly being the best defensive catcher only hit .235
Nap led the league with 258 hits while Klien had the longest hit streak of 35 games
Notable pitchers : King 44-19, Christy 31-18, Walsh 30-15, Pete 28-14 (LL 3.31 era), Cicotte 26-11 (!?!?), Maddux 21-10,Kevin Brown 21-7, Joss 23-16
Bad pitchers : Baldwin 31-35, Clarkson 8-27 ouch, Mordecai 14-26(?!?!), Blyleven 6-20, and finally Pedro only goes 10-11 despite having the second lowest whip at 1.3 but an ERA of 5.13, he did lead the league with 9.4 k/9 and a 4.2 k/bb ratio
Ashburn had 51 + plays with 0 -, Nap had 51 and 2
and last I'll leave you with what (without looking it up) has to be a record, Cap Anson recorded 67 passed balls...must have been playing without a mitt??
GL TO ALL THE TEAMS IN THE PLAYOFF'S!! (Except for whoever plays me!! Lol)

No playoff for NL west. When both teams will make the playoffs, WIS uses tie breakers (HtH, DivRec). See you in the first round deuce!
4/7/2016 10:57 AM
OH my bad didn't see that it was the AL that had the tie breaker game
4/7/2016 2:56 PM
We have a winner!!!

Hard to argue with Big Train at #1. Unless you get into the helping you in 50 games vs. 162 argument. But Ty Cobb was uncomfortable against Johnson and that's good enough for me. Plus, shysters has won 29 titles and I have one. And then Silver King. How fast do you think he threw. I'm thinking 70.

I was going to go with the Babe but decided to get almost my whole starting staff done in one pick.
