I have 3 Jr OL and want to hold one back for an extra to anchor the line after my 3 Sr and 2 other Jr lineman leave. In your experiences, is it bad to redshirt upperclassman other than the WE downgrade they take? In other words, does redshirting a player later in his career give him more reason to leave after his Rs Jr year than it would have if I would have redshirted him as a freshman. How often to 5th yr Sr leave a program on average?

I don't think it would effect much other than work ethic. I don't think players leave very often, I honestly can't remember the last time someone left early.
