I'm curious. What's the largest investment you've made and failed to sign the prospect? Here's mine. (This isn't a complaint of any type, just curious). I sent 44 total cv's and he did not sign with me. I turned him green during the third cycle and then started to battle around day two. BTW, I only have one player at this position on the current roster so it was (still is) a huge need.

For those not good at math, the total is $51,281.

Now, who spent more on nothing than me?

I don't remember the exact amount, but somewhere in the $70's.
5/1/2016 6:37 PM
I've lost a few battles at twice that much, although not recently.

A couple seasons ago I spent like 35,000 on a guy about 20 miles away and lost him to a d1 school

I have spent $100K on a player and lost him. Another coach in Bryant World claims to have spent $150K on a player and lost him. Both of our losses were to Penn State/ozzball.

Good grief, I don't feel so bad now. Did any of this take place back when a coach could rollover all of the $ from previous seasons? That's an insane amount to spend on one player.

Last season at Houston lost a player I spent 95k on

When you could roll over all your unused money, I was at Penn State with practically perfect prestige and battled Boston College for a RB. I spent $475k to win him *on the last day of recruiting*, so you know he probably spent well over $500k with my prestige advantage.

Back in Engine ONE ........ Hundreds of Thousands and lost . I think Plague or Paranoid had over a MIL stashed.

That was the give and take with old roll over. You could build a bank, but could be slaughtered by one too.

Jeez.. I just spent over $30K and won the guy (DII) and was feeling bad. Not anymore.
5/3/2016 11:53 AM
I think the most I have ever spent is 140k and lost
5/3/2016 5:24 PM
Frosty, 30k is quite a bit to spend in D2. I think most of these huge figures were up in D1A.
