Projecting player potential Topic

2 things I want to clear up. When I get the scouting message on potential, what neccessarily does that mean doe potential place a cap somewhere overall or does it help speed up/slowdown the growth of a recruit similar to WE?

When I am recruiting what should I be projecting for growth per season. It would be nice to know whether to take a:

level 3 QB with 30 ath 40 str 40 gi 40 tec 40 we

compared to level 3 QB with 40 ath 30 str 20 tech 25 tech with 70 WE

I was looking at top Heisman D3 teams since they are close to finishing and most eveybody has their players growthing between 4 and 6 points in important categories. So I should be projecting my guys between 16-24 growth and 20-30 growth for a RS?

What about level 4 guys? or guys anove 60 WE? I like to use excel sheets to project my recruits to evaluate how I'm doing.

I'm not sure I'm answering your question but in the GD forum, take a look at the thread that says scouting messages below this one. It shows you the different messages from recruits when you send an assistant or head coach on a scouting trip and how you want to recruit the good potential (or great potential) responses. Those players grow faster than the average and low potential responses. Of course, when a recruit/player sees more playing time, they also will increase faster than a player/recruit that doesn't see the field.

So when you compare your two QBs above, the 70 WE stands out, but only if he has good or great potential. If he has average potential and the WE40 player has good or great potential, then you would go with the WE40. In either case, go with the QB that has good/great potential.

well yes but if they are the same does it make a difference, in 2 seasons of recruit(I have 2 accounts) I have only taken level 3 players(good) players and level 4(great) players.

So potential is just kind of like an added WE?

There is a post somewhere else but honestly I dont feel like finding it.. basically it broke down potential and WE like this:

Potential is the ceiling of a player and WE is how quickly they can reach that ceiling

This is probably the best example I can pull up immediately.. both of these players had 3 potential, but completely different WE.. leave out the variables that me and pete probably practice different, playing time, ect..
Season Class ATH SPD DUR WE STA STR BLK TKL HND GI ELU TECH Base QB Position Rank
Lewis McDermott 103 56 55 41 39 45 79 21 18 43 64 69 68 68.26 QB 97
Lewis McDermott 104 60 59 46 39 49 79 16 13 48 67 72 71 70.62 QB 54
Lewis McDermott 105 64 63 51 41 54 79 12 9 53 71 75 74 73.22 QB 24
Lewis McDermott 106 67 66 55 41 58 79 7 4 57 74 78 77 75.44 QB 11
Lewis McDermott 107 70 69 58 38 61 80 3 1 61 76 80 79 77.32 QB 5
Howard Cox 103 49 53 50 62 60 39 42 41 60 71 59 73 59.36 QB 283
Howard Cox 104 54 57 55 62 64 43 38 37 63 74 63 76 62.94 QB 207
Howard Cox 105 59 62 60 63 68 48 34 33 67 77 67 79 66.82 QB 109
Howard Cox 106 64 66 65 76 72 53 29 28 70 81 71 82 70.9 QB 46
Howard Cox 107 68 70 69 86 76 56 25 24 74 83 75 84 73.6 QB 21

The better player is more likely to stay the better player if the ratings are a lot different.. but the one with the higher WE will move towards the ceiling faster.
