Hey good you are in. The team name idea isn't cast in stone. I saw the movie Thunder Road with Robert Mitchum. It came out in about 1958 and hence the song. Ford Motor Company must have LOVED that movie because it's feature car was a 1957 Ford Fairlane 500. I forget if it was a ragtop or a 2 dr hardtop. That year they were competing with the '57 Chev Bel Aire, which is still loved by all us Baby Boomers. Chevvy had the F.I. 283 pumping out 283 h.p. (about 220 the way we measure it today) and the Ford had a 312 cu in V 8 available with either Single 4 bbl at 245 HP or the Dual quad and it was 270 h.p. . that's about 185 and 215 net hp. Back in the day those were the two hottest machines going, along with the Corvette. Chryco had the 392 Hemi ,but their cars were pug ugly
