i have a SS that I took in the rule 5 draft and I want to sign him long term. His contract runs out after this season but I can't find the way to extend him. Am I not able to or am I missing something?

I assume it's this guy. He's pre-arb. You don't have a need to sign him long-term. He's under your control for the next couple of seasons.

When he gets to arb, then you can sign him LT if you wish.

He's not really a guy you want to rush to sign LT. You have him for 3 BL minimum years and 2 arbs before you have to make a decision. My guess is you'll find he's not that valuable at that point.
