Yep, he's basically back in AAA facing the Braves. Should do great.

I can't be objective regarding Urias, so I'll bow out of this and just enjoy seeing something incredibly rare tomorrow.
So what got lost in this whole absurd slap fight was that the "something incredibly rare" turned out to be a reminder of why it's been over a decade since a teenager made a debut in a Major League rotation. Urias failed to finish the 3rd inning, showed no command, and got tagged. Sent right back down where he came from.

The misfortune of his teammates means he's gonna get another shot at it. Let's see if he can look at least a little less overmatched next time.
Agreed. Now we'll see what he does. He'll have the benefit of working with Rick Honeycutt on a day to day basis.
I believe he is pitching againstt Atlanta. Jake freaking Peavy pitched 7 innings of 1 hit ball against the Braves. If Urias can't pitch decently against them, he's not ready.
He's 19. Many players - no matter what their pedigree - that have debuted at that age have had some troubles. Koufax, Nolan Ryan, Early Wynn, Jim Palmer among them...

yeah, but its the Braves!

I don't know about the rest of your list, but I know Jim Palmer had a pretty ok debut season. Not an ace at that point - he was mostly pitching out of the bullpen - but nothing ugly.

Talking about first appearances. Not first season.

Pretty sure Palmer pitched in relief for his first appearance and did fine.

I'm pretty sure he faced 8 batters and allowed 3 to get on base. He also had a wild pitch. He did get the win, but really not sure if he was 'effective'.

What was his WAR for that game?

We don't know, I don't think individual game calculations are available. But, if we did, it would depend on if you're looking at Baseball Reference or Fangraphs. BR, because its calculation is based on earned runs, would be higher than Fangraphs, which calculates based on FIP.

But I'd bet it's zero for both because two innings.

Bottom line: Palmers appearance was - not - a good one.

Bottom line: Palmer's debut was 2 innings, 1 hit, 0 ER. Urias' was 2.2 innings, 5 hits, 3 ER. Not at all comparable.

Honestly, he looked a lot more comfortable than he did last week...

Now that he has a whopping 63 IP, kid looks pretty good. A 19 year old striking out 10 per 9 with a sub-4 ERA. With a little BABIP normalization he should be a stud.
