Dear people running WIS baseball. I implore you in the name of fairness above all to newbies here, to please change the following language in the Draft Center Notes:
"It is highly recommended to draft at least 1,500 innings pitched and 6,000 plate appearances in order to successfully handle a 162-game Open League schedule."
EVERYONE who is here for any serious amount of time knows that this is not merely a bad recommendation, it is at best misleading and at worst complete sabotage of any chance a new person playing SIM baseball on this site has to even reasonably compete, even as a respectable last place team. Drafting 1500 innings means the team will be just awful, it will lose well over 110, maybe even 130 games and the person will be depressed and demoralized.
The language should be changed to 1.300 - and the PA number should also be lowered because there is NO mention of the owner receiving 6 AAA position players of strong quality and more than enough PA to be the entire bench. Either a rule should be made that makes it impossible to draft 8 stars with limited PA and 7 200K players, or the truth should be told, that there is no need to draft a bench of any kind except perhaps a pinch hitter.
If WIS intended the game to be one that was really challenging, and in which it really was necessary to draft a good bench, then END the supply of computer generated AAA in Open Leagues, thus requiring the drafting of 25 players that will actually play.
But at the very least stop lying to new people who play here thus multiplying their already existing disadvantage with regard to experienced game players which is legitimate if it does not involve veterans knowing to ignore what you tell us.
thanks.
