Just because a player avg'd 1 or 2 blocks a game doesn't make them great or top defensive players. There are way too many really good or decent shot blockers in the sim who were avg, or below avg man to man defenders who are rated higher than players who weren't really shot blockers but were great or above avg defenders.

The Pistons were a great defensive team during the Bad Boys era and Rodman, Dumars, Laimbeer, and Mahorn were the best defensive players on those teams. Salley was a shot blocker but didn't compare to Laimbeer or Mahorn defensively but Salley is rated higher than both. This is one example of how the sim overrates shot blockers defensively and underrates really good defensive players.

If a player (Salley) blocks 2 shots in a game but the player he is guarding scores 25 points that game he probably didn't have much impact in the game defensively.

If a player (Laimbeer/Mahorn) locks down on a really good offensive player and holds them to 10 points with 0 blocked shots he impacted the game in a big way.
