the issue IMO has never been with long tenured mid majors. since seble expanded to 10 seasons, a guy with 10 NT1s or similar could always snag a solid BCS job. the problem is that period of time is too long. a new coach comes in, takes 3 awful seasons on the resume to rebuild, and then has 5 good ones, and they are still a ways out from a good job. that's really the problem - the game only looks at averages, it has no concept of where you came from and where you went...
